Surprised Matryoshka Doll with Fan Patterns and Stripes

A single nesting doll sits front and center, drawn with a rounded head and a wide, egg-shaped body. The face has big round eyes, small curly strands of hair along the forehead and cheeks, and a tiny pursed mouth that gives her a surprised look. Her body is filled with large fan shapes edged with scalloped petals. Three of the fans hold layered flower designs with nested curves, while the spaces between them are packed with straight and curved stripes. The head covering also has long diagonal lines sweeping across the top. The linework is clean and the sections are a good size, so it works for crayons, markers, or colored pencils. Try giving each fan its own color family and keeping the stripes in a neutral shade, so the flower centers stand out. This free printable also suits a quick lesson on pattern and repetition.
