Garden Border Around a Matryoshka Doll and Log Cabin
Coloring guide
Front and center stands a smiling matryoshka in a flowered headscarf knotted under her chin, with a big heart-shaped swirl of blooms and curling leaves down the front of her sarafan. Past her you'll spot a little log cabin with a picket fence on the left. On the right are puffy clouds, a bright sun with rays, tall pine trees, a wooden fence and a winding path. A frame of daisy-like flowers, buds and leafy vines surrounds the whole scene, with bell-shaped flowers near the bottom corners. Her round cheeks and big shiny eyes make her a friendly place to start, and the many small petals and scrolls keep older kids busy. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big areas: fill the doll's face and the main dress with cream, and color the hair and headscarf brown.
- 2Color the sides of the doll's dress with deep blue and the lower shoulder areas with navy blue, leaving the background white.
- 3Fill the sun and the curly swirls on the dress with golden yellow.
- 4Paint the cheeks pink, then color the large dress flowers and the border flowers red, adding golden yellow centers to some of them.
- 5Add leaf green to the trees, bushes and grass, and sky blue to the clouds, keeping the sun rays and border background white.
- 6Optional: color the path and the lime green grass at the right edge, and add a light touch of shading to the cream dress.
