Sunset Beach Rock Where a Mermaid Rests
Coloring guide
A smiling mermaid with long wavy hair relaxes on a big rock by the sea, leaning on one hand and glancing over her shoulder. She has a starfish clip in her hair and wears a seashell top, and her tail is covered in rounded scales ending in a wide, flowing fin. Seaweed, a starfish and several spiral and scallop shells sit around the rock. Behind her, waves roll toward a round setting sun on the horizon, and the sky holds a small sailboat, three seagulls and fluffy clouds. Palm fronds frame the top corners. This free printable offers kids lots of choices, from tiny scales to big wave shapes. Ocean blues and teals suit the tail, while warm oranges and pinks for the sun and sky will make her stand out. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big sea and sky: color the ocean in ocean blue and the sky clouds in baby blue, leaving the sailboat white.
- 2Fill the mermaid's skin in peach and her tail scales in turquoise, leaving the scale outlines and the sailboat white.
- 3Color the rock in sandy tan and the darker shadowed side in dark brown, then fill the sandy beach in soft gold.
- 4Add the sun in golden yellow, its reflection on the water in buttery yellow, and the long hair and starfish clip in buttery yellow.
- 5Use aqua for the tail fin and the shell top, and light tan for the shells at the bottom right.
- 6Optional: Add light sky blue to the wave crests and sea edges for a little extra sparkle.
