A rectangular flag outline holds a large round seal in the center, with the word MINNESOTA in bold outlined letters along the bottom edge. Inside the seal, a ring of small beads surrounds a scene of a farmer walking beside a plow near a tree stump, while a rider on a horse appears in the background near a waterfall. A ribbon reads L'ETOILE DU NORD, with the years 1858, 1819 and 1893 placed around the border, and leafy flowers wrap the sides. Small stars sit outside the circle, with one larger star at the top.
