A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big areas: color the sofa, armrests and seat cushions light blue, and use pale blue for the rug edges and the open book pages.
- 2Next, add the clothes: medium blue for the mother's lap and legs, dark blue for the boy's jeans, soft purple for the mother's top and the girl's pants, leaf green for the boy's shirt, and rose pink for the girl's top.
- 3Color the plants, pot and cat: leaf green for the plant leaves, clay orange for the pot, burnt orange for the cat's body and light orange for its stripes and tail. Use mint green for the rug at the bottom.
- 4Fill in the hair and skin: chocolate brown for the mother's hair, hazel brown for the boy's hair, golden yellow for the girl's hair, and light skin tone for faces, ears and paws.
- 5Add the details: pale yellow for the leafy throw pillow, bright yellow for the sun, and leave the eye whites, the rabbit, the lampshade and the socks white.
- 6Optional: add a little shading with a slightly darker shade of each color along the edges for depth.
