Mother Duck Swimming With Three Ducklings in a Pond

Coloring guide
A smiling mother duck glides over rippling pond water while three little ducklings paddle right beside her, all turned her way as if they're following along. She has a big round eye with eyelashes, a wide beak, and a fluffy wing of scalloped feathers that's fun to fill in. Tall cattails and grass blades rise on the left, one more cattail stands on the right, and two water lilies sit on lily pads up front. Thin ripple lines circle each duck, which gives kids a chance to practice a light touch inside the lines. This free printable works for preschoolers up through early elementary. Soft yellow ducklings, a slightly deeper gold for mom, and pink lily petals will stand out nicely against the blue water. A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- golden yellow
- leaf green
- light pink
- cocoa brown
- sky blue
- orange
- hot pink
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the mother duck and all three ducklings in golden yellow, including their wings, but leave the tiny shine in the mother duck's eye white.
- 2Fill the beaks of the mother duck and the ducklings with bright orange.
- 3Paint the pond water and the little ripple lines around the ducks in sky blue.
- 4Color the reeds, grass blades and grassy bases in leaf green, and the cattail heads in cocoa brown. Leave a few thin white streaks in the grass for a fresh look.
- 5Color the big lily pads in leaf green, then fill the flower petals with light pink and add hot pink to the outer petals for a little depth.
- 6Optional: Add a slightly darker shade of sky blue along the edges of the water and under the ducklings to make them look like they are floating.
