Baby Chicks Pecking Seeds Near the Red Barn
Coloring guide
A big fluffy mother hen leans down to peck at the ground while four little chicks gather around her, all scratching for scattered seeds in the grass. Behind them stand a wooden fence with sturdy posts, a large barn with crossed-board doors and a small square window, and two round hay bales. A tall windmill rises on the right, and puffy clouds and leafy trees fill the sky. Flowers and grass tufts frame the corners of the page. The hen's layered feathers and the chicks' soft wings add lots of detail for crayons or colored pencils. Golden yellow chicks, a warm reddish-brown hen and a bright red barn will make the scene pop. - 3Color the barn walls and roof with barn red, keeping the big barn door panels white, then add caramel brown to the fence posts.
- 4Fill the grass, bushes and tree with bright green, and add forest green to the darker leaves and bottom plants. Keep the clouds and daisy petals white.
- 5Optional: Add light gray to the windmill blades and slate gray to the roof shading for a bit of depth.
