Under Blossoms, Mulan Listens to Her Father's Story

A man and a young woman sit close together beneath a branch full of flowers and buds. The man has a short beard and his hair tied up in a topknot. He tilts his head back with his mouth open as if telling a story, and one hand is raised with the fingers curled. His other hand rests on his knee. The young woman sits just behind him with long straight hair and a small flower clip on top. She looks off to the side with a thoughtful, slightly worried face, and one arm reaches across his back. Both wear wrap-style robes with wide sleeves and sashes, which leave plenty of big areas to fill in. Try soft pinks and whites for the blossoms, then pick two different color families for the robes so the two figures stand apart. This free printable also works well for talking about how a person's expression shows their mood.
