Napping Bunny Beneath a Fall Tree

Curled up asleep at the bottom of a big tree trunk, this fluffy lop-eared bunny has closed eyes, a tiny smile and one long ear draped over its cheek. The tree above has scalloped, cloud-like branches full of leaves, and single leaves drift down through the air to land on the ground. You'll spot grass tufts around the bunny, two spotted mushrooms on the left, another on the right, and a few more fallen leaves scattered up front. The bark has lots of lines and a small knothole, so kids can practice careful shading there. Try soft gray or creamy tan on the bunny, warm brown on the trunk, and red or orange on the mushroom caps and falling leaves. The free printable PDF is handy for classroom time or a rainy day. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the bunny's head, body and front paws with light brown, leaving the fluffy tail and the paw at the lower left white.
- 2Color both mushroom caps cherry red and their stems cream beige, keeping the small white spots on the caps white.
- 3Add grass green to the grass tufts on the left and right, and to the small clumps around the base of the tree.
- 4Color the tree canopy patches with golden yellow and amber, then fill the falling and hanging leaves with bright orange and burnt orange.
- 5Fill the branches and the knots on the trunk with chestnut brown, leaving the main trunk and background white.
- 6Optional: add a little darker brown along the bunny's ears and under its body for a soft shadow.
