A little dragon is taking a peaceful nap on this page, eyes gently closed and chin resting on its front claws. Its body curls into a cozy round shape on top of a chunky, cracked stone slab. Two big wings stand up behind it like a tent, and two horns point back from the head. The long tail wraps around the front of the rock and ends in a small flickering flame, with a few tiny sparks floating close by. Little dots on the stone near the flame add a bit of detail. Younger kids can fill in the wing panels and the flat sides of the rock without much trouble. Warm orange fits the body and flame, deep purple or teal would look good on the wings, and soft gray is right for the stone. Print this sheet at home for a quick coloring break. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the dragon's body, head, tail, back, legs and ear by filling them with warm red, leaving the small gaps between them clean.
- 2Fill the wing membranes with light gold, including the upper and lower sections of both wings.
- 3Color the rock ledge and the rock sides with slate gray, then add the small rock piece near the fire.
- 4Give the claws a cream color and fill the small wing claw tip with soft peach.
- 5Color the outer flame with bright orange and the inner flame core with bright yellow.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker red shading along the belly and under the tail for depth, and leave the flame edges a bit lighter to make them glow.
