A smiling narwhal with a long spiral tusk swims close to a happy beluga whale in this wintry ocean scene. The narwhal has a spotted back and the beluga a smooth, rounded head, and both have big sparkly eyes and cheerful open mouths. Behind them float a large iceberg and a few smaller ice chunks at the water line, with wavy lines showing the sea. Snowflakes and little round bubbles are scattered across the page. Large shapes and clear outlines suit preschoolers and early elementary kids, while the narwhal's spots and the tusk's stripes give older children some detail to work on. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the narwhal's body, both fins and tail steel blue, leaving the small round spots white.
- 2Fill the beluga's body and both flippers with soft lavender.
- 3Color the icebergs and floating ice: sky blue on the right sides of the big iceberg and the right iceberg, light ice blue on the left sides and bottom ice, and pale aqua on the small iceberg at the top right.
- 4Color the narwhal's spiral tusk cream, then add rose pink to the narwhal's and beluga's open mouths while keeping their eyes and teeth white.
- 5Optional: add a few darker strokes of steel blue along the narwhal's belly and soft lavender along the beluga's back to create gentle shading.
