Narwhal Says Hi to a Hedgehog Sub Pilot, Octonauts
Coloring guide
A smiling narwhal with a spiral tusk and a dotted belly swims up toward a tiny submarine, where a hedgehog waves from the round porthole. The sub has a periscope on top, rivets around its porthole, and a spinning propeller at the back. Above the waterline there are two rocky icebergs and a couple of flat ice floes on the rippling surface. Below, three small fish swim close by, bubbles drift through the water, and clusters of seaweed grow from the sea floor, with a few pebbles in the bottom corners. Big shapes and clear outlines make it a good choice for preschoolers and early elementary kids. Soft purple or sky blue for the narwhal and a sunny yellow submarine will stand out against a deep blue ocean. Print or download this free page for a fun afternoon activity. Looking for more? A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the narwhal body and flipper in cornflower blue, leaving the tusk and face areas for later.
- 2Color the icebergs and floating ice pieces in pale ice blue and sky blue, keeping the snowy tops white.
- 3Fill the submarine with lemon yellow and golden yellow, then add coral red to the dome top, propeller, and tail fin.
- 4Color the hedgehog body in cream beige and the porthole ring in tangerine orange, with sky blue water behind.
- 5Add leaf green seaweed, cool gray rocks, and the three yellow fish, then finish with ocean blue seaweed and cream beige bubbles.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker blue on the narwhal's belly for depth, and leave small white dots on the narwhal's side and the eye whites.
