Coloring guide

A bald eagle with wide open wings sits at the center of this North Dakota flag design, with a shield across its chest and its head tipped back toward a ribbon that reads E Pluribus Unum. Above the ribbon, a semicircle of thirteen small stars sits under a burst of fine rays. In its talons the eagle holds an olive branch on one side and a bundle of arrows on the other. A curled scroll banner along the bottom spells out NORTH DAKOTA in block letters. Everything is outlined inside a simple rectangular border. The feathers and rays give kids plenty of small spaces to fill in. Try coloring the stars in gold and the rays in yellow, then use shades of brown and tan on the feathers. It also works well for a state study unit, where students can look up what the olive branch and arrows stand for.
