A cheerful butterfly with curly antennae and a big smile sits in the middle of this oval mandala, and a heart marks the center of each of its four wings. Small circles scatter around the hearts, and a double outline on the wings leaves bands of space for different shades. Five-petal flowers alternate with pointed leaves in a ring around the butterfly, giving little hands lots of small areas to fill. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big background areas: fill the oval background and the space around the butterfly with sky blue, working carefully around the flowers and leaves.
- 2Color the two large upper wings and the two lower wings with light lavender, then fill the body and abdomen with medium purple.
- 3Add the raspberry pink borders along the wing edges and the four heart shapes in the centers of the wings.
- 4Fill the flowers with bubblegum pink and the leaves around the oval with leaf green, using mint green for the two leaves on the left and bottom left.
- 5Color the head and the stripe on the body with pale yellow, then add sunny yellow to the flower centers and the small dots on the wings.
- 6Optional: Leave small white dots on the wings and the white highlights in the eyes untouched to make the butterfly look extra cheerful.
