Peek-a-Boo Kitten in a Cardboard Box

Coloring guide
Popping up out of an open cardboard box, this cheerful kitten rests both little paws on the edge, with sparkly eyes and a wide open smile. One ear stands up pointy and the other folds over, and there are tiny stripes on the forehead and long whiskers to color. On the floor around the box you'll find its toys: a striped ball on the left, a round ball with holes on the right, a small toy mouse with a curly tail, and a feather wand in front. Large shapes and clean lines work well for preschoolers and early elementary kids building pencil control. An orange and cream kitten in a brown box looks nice, with blue, red and purple for the toys. It's a free printable for quiet time at home or in class. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the cardboard box: fill the front panels, the right flap, and the back flaps with light tan, then add warm brown to the back right flap for depth.
- 2Color the kitten's face, cheeks, chin, and ears with light orange, and add burnt orange to the forehead stripes and right shoulder.
- 3Fill the inside of the ears and the nose with light pink, and color the open mouth with rose pink, leaving the eye whites and paws white.
- 4Paint the balls next: golden yellow and bright red stripes on the striped ball, bright blue on the polka dot ball with a golden yellow center and bright blue sections on the striped ball.
- 5Color the mouse body light gray with light pink inner ear, the wand handle light blue with a bright blue tip, and the feathers with bright red, golden yellow, and leaf green.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading on the box and the cat's cheeks to make the drawing look more three-dimensional.
