A big, friendly baby face fills this page, with wide round eyes, small raised eyebrows and a cheerful open smile showing two tiny front teeth. It looks like JJ, with his single curl of hair on top of a round head. His small hands grip a ledge along the bottom edge, so he seems to be peeking up over it, and a few curved lines in the top corner suggest something hanging above him. Thick, clean outlines and big shapes mean little hands can stay inside the lines, which is great for preschoolers. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the big face, both hands, and the nose-free skin areas with peach skin, leaving the eye whites and front teeth white.
- 2Color the top curl, the left and right hair, and the outer ears with golden yellow, and use warm tan on the inner part of the left ear.
- 3Use sky blue for the shirt collar at the bottom and for the rings around both eyes.
- 4Fill the centers of the eyes with charcoal gray, then color the nose and the outer ears with light salmon.
- 5Color the lower lip with coral red and the inside of the open mouth with dark red, then add the eyebrows with dark brown on the right and medium brown on the left.
- 6Optional: add light diagonal shading on the skin and hair to give a soft, pencil-like look. Keep the crib rails, motion lines, and background white.
