Pencil Jar Pals with Scissors and Glue Stick for Back to School

Six little pencils with tiny smiling faces and rosy round eyes crowd into a glass jar that has a wide band around the rim. They're all different heights, and each has a sharpened tip with a wavy edge where the wood meets the point. Out front, a pair of scissors with big oval handles lies open along the table line, and a glue stick with its own happy face stands on the right. The shapes are large and the outlines are bold and clean, so small hands can manage them easily. Red, blue, green, orange, purple and pink would give each pencil tip its own color, and the glue stick cap can be any bold shade you like. This free printable works nicely at classroom stations or as a first-day activity at home. - sky blue
- royal blue
- golden yellow
- bright red
- peach beige
- grass green
- tangerine orange
- violet purple
- light gray
- carrot orange
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the red pencil at the top middle with bright red, and the green pencil beside it with grass green, leaving the white eyes untouched.
- 2Fill the purple pencil on the far left with violet purple, the tall yellow pencil with golden yellow, and the blue pencil on the right with royal blue.
- 3Color the wooden tips of all the pencils peach beige, then add the matching point colors: red, yellow, green, blue, purple, and the small orange pencil in carrot orange.
- 4Color the jar with sky blue for the main glass and royal blue for the rim band and some side panels, keeping the scissors and glue stick for later.
- 5Color the glue stick cap and bottom in tangerine orange, its middle band in golden yellow, and the scissors' handles in bright red with the blade in light gray.
- 6Optional: Add a little shading with a darker shade of each color along one side, and keep the eye highlights and the scissors' finger holes white.
