Two rearing horses stand on either side of a decorated shield, each wearing a harness with chains hanging down from the straps. On top of the shield sits an eagle with its wings spread. Inside the shield you can see a sailing ship on waves, a plow, and three sheaves of wheat. Olive and leafy branches curve beneath it, and a ribbon below carries the words Virtue, Liberty and Independence. The whole design sits inside a plain rectangular flag border, so there is lots of open white space around it. This free printable works well for a state studies lesson. Kids can color the horses in different browns and grays, then pick gold for the wheat and blue for the water under the ship. Fine-tipped pencils help with the small mane and ribbon lettering.
