Pirate Bee With a Spyglass on a Sailboat

Coloring guide
Dressed as a pirate, this bee stands on the deck of a sailboat and holds a spyglass up to one big sparkling eye. It wears a pirate hat with a skull and crossbones and chunky boots, and it has curly antennae, two rounded wings and a striped tummy that's fun to color. The boat has a round porthole, wooden planks along the hull and a tall mast with a striped sail. Wavy lines mark the sea below, and the sky holds three puffy clouds and a smiling sun with rays. Bright yellow and black stripes work for the bee, red for the hat and soft blues for the water. This free printable suits preschoolers and early elementary kids who love pirate adventures, with big areas and small details for different skill levels. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big yellow areas: color the sun, the bee's head, body, arms, legs and hand with sunny yellow, leaving the eye whites and the small shine spots white.
- 2Color the clouds and both wings sky blue, and fill the top and bottom parts of the sail with cherry red while leaving the white stripe across the middle of the sail.
- 3Color the pirate hat navy blue, then add the skull and crossbones in white, and use chestnut brown for the spyglass tube and warm brown for the boots and mast tip.
- 4Fill the boat hull with caramel orange, add a sunny yellow stripe along the middle, and color the deck and rim areas warm brown.
- 5Finish the porthole with silver gray around a sky blue center, color the bee's dark brown stripe across the body, and add the spyglass lens in sky blue.
- 6Optional: add a little shading with a darker shade of each color on one side of the bee and the boat to make them look more rounded.
