Two young pirates sit in a small wooden rowboat, waving hello, while a big friendly octopus pops up from the water right in front of them. The boy wears a tricorn hat with a skull and crossbones and a striped vest, and the girl has a polka-dot bandana and a laced-up top. An oar lies across the boat. The octopus has a wide smile, big shiny eyes, spots on its head and curling arms covered in round suckers. Farther back there are two puffy clouds, a small island with a palm tree and wavy lines across the sea, plus a few splashes near the octopus. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the big octopus body and all its arms with violet purple, leaving the sucker dots and the eye whites white.
- 2Fill the wooden rowboat, its oar, and the boat rim with caramel brown and rust brown, then color the water areas around the boat with sky blue and aqua blue.
- 3Color the island sand with sunny yellow and the palm leaves with leaf green, keeping the sea and sky white.
- 4Add the pirate hat in charcoal gray and the girl's bandana in bright red, leaving the white polka dots unpainted.
- 5Paint the children's skin with peach skin, their hair with chocolate brown and caramel brown, the boy's red vest and the girl's royal blue vest, and the boy's shorts in sky blue.
- 6Finish with the octopus mouth in rose pink, leaving the eye whites and shiny spots white. Optional: add a little darker violet purple along the edges of the octopus for depth.
