Coloring guide
A smiling kitten in a big pirate hat stands behind a ship's wheel, gripping the spokes with both paws. The hat has a skull and crossbones on the front. The kitten has an eye patch over one eye, the other eye is wide and round, and the mouth is open in a happy grin with whiskers on both cheeks. It all happens on a wooden plank deck. A barrel sits on each side of the kitten, a coiled rope rests on the floor at the right, a twisted rope hangs on the left and part of a sail is drawn behind the cat. Bold lines and fairly large shapes make it a good fit for preschoolers and early elementary kids. Deep black or navy would suit the hat, with warm browns for the wheel and barrels. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the cat's face, ears, paws and body in bright orange, leaving the eye whites and the sky background white.
- 2Fill the ship's wheel, its spokes and the wheel post in tan brown and chocolate brown, then add the golden yellow hub ring.
- 3Color the barrels and the deck planks in tan brown, adding the steel gray hoops around the barrels.
- 4Color the pirate hat and eye patch in charcoal black, leaving the skull and crossbones white, and add the golden yellow band on the hat.
- 5Color the tongue soft pink and the tail and front paws burnt orange for a bit of contrast.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading on the deck planks and the inside edges of the barrels to make the wood look more realistic.
