Puppy Pirate Hugging a Big Bone
Coloring guide
This smiling puppy is dressed as a pirate and sits upright, hugging a big cartoon bone in both paws. His tricorn hat has a skull and crossbones on the front, there's an eye patch over one eye and his tongue sticks out in a happy grin. A wooden barrel with metal bands sits behind him on the left, and a ship's steering wheel is on the right. Next to him rests a thick coiled rope whose loose end curls toward the bottom corner. Bold lines and big shapes make this free printable friendly for younger kids. A dark purple or black hat, a golden yellow wheel and warm brown for the barrel and rope would all work well. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the puppy's body, head, muzzle, paws, arm and tail with cream, keeping the eye highlights and background white.
- 2Color the big bone and the tail area cream as well, so the whole puppy looks like one soft shape.
- 3Paint both floppy ears and the brown patch on the head caramel brown, then color the barrel staves and the ship wheel wood brown.
- 4Color the rope coils and the wheel spokes light tan, and fill the wheel hub, handles, and the hat's gold trim golden yellow.
- 5Fill the pirate hat, eye patch, and nose with charcoal black, add medium gray to the barrel bands, light gray to the bottom band, and coral pink to the tongue.
- 6Optional: Add a little shading with a slightly darker shade of each color along the edges of the ears, the bone, and the barrel to give the puppy more depth.
