In the middle of a busy pit lane sits an open-wheel race car with a big smile, while three small helper vehicles with friendly faces get it set to race. The one on the left wears a hard hat and holds a tire, the one on the right uses an air wrench on a wheel, and the third, at the top, pumps fuel from a tanker truck. Stacked tires, orange traffic cones, a rolling tool cart, an open toolbox, a floor jack and an air tank are scattered around them. Further back, a checkered flag waves beside the garage, with a control tower and grandstand along the track. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big areas: color the sky and the distant track with light blue, and the trees and grass near the track with grass green.
- 2Fill the pit lane floor, the track surface and the pavement with light gray, and the garage pillars and tire stacks with medium gray.
- 3Color the race car's body, front wing stripes, and top stripes with bright red, leaving the nose tip, front bumper and the white parts of the car white.
- 4Add the fuel tanker and the blue hose nozzle with royal blue, the mechanics' helmets and the tool cart accents with golden yellow, and the toolbox with bright red.
- 5Fill the tires, the car's dark parts and the toolbox handle with charcoal black, then add the mechanics' faces in cream. Optional: add light shading on the tires with slate gray for depth.
