Polite Bow Before Class: Martial Arts Boy on the Mat

Coloring guide
This young boy is barefoot and smiling, with his head tipped forward in a polite bow and his arms straight at his sides. His judo-style uniform has a crossed jacket, loose pants with a faint line near the hem, and a knotted belt with two long ends hanging down. Messy hair, big round eyes and a gentle smile make him look friendly. The lines under his feet are big rectangular mat sections. It's a good fit for a child just starting martial arts, or for a teacher who wants to chat about respect and manners before class. Outlines are bold and the spaces are roomy, so small hands can manage it. A yellow or orange belt will pop nicely against a white uniform. Print it free as a PDF whenever you need it. A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- sky blue
- peach
- chestnut brown
- golden yellow
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the blue judo mat: color the mat squares with sky blue, leaving the thin border lines uncolored.
- 2Fill the boy's face, ears, hands, and feet with peach, keeping the eyes and the small smile unshaded.
- 3Color the hair with chestnut brown, leaving a few light strands showing for a natural look.
- 4Leave the white judo gi and pant legs white, then color the thick belt and its knot with golden yellow.
- 5Optional: Add a little darker shading under the hair, sleeves, and belt to give the drawing some depth.
- 6Finish by checking that the eyes, the white gi, and the small highlights stay white and clean.
