With its wings stretched out, a cheerful puffin glides through the water, its big round eye and chunky striped beak turned toward a little fish swimming below. A ceiling of ice hangs overhead with five pointed icicles, and small bubbles drift all around the pair. Down at the bottom, wavy seaweed grows on both sides beside rounded rocks on the sea floor. The fish has a scaly body, a smiling face and a fan-shaped tail. Bold, clean outlines and generous open spaces make it a good pick for younger kids and beginner colorers. Bright orange looks great on the puffin's beak, with black and white feathers, plus soft blues for the water and an icy light blue for the icicles. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the puffin's body and upper wing in baby blue, then fill the head and lower wing in royal blue.
- 2Fill the top rock ledges and icicles with tan brown, and the darker shadowed icicles with dark brown.
- 3Color the seaweed in light green and forest green, and the bottom rocks in medium gray.
- 4Paint the puffin's beak with a bright yellow middle, red orange top and bottom bands, and a bright red tip.
- 5Color the little fish and the puffin's feet in orange, and give the fish's face a soft gold tone.
- 6Optional: color the bubbles sky blue and leave the puffin's white face and eye whites untouched for a bright, clean look.
