Flying High: Puppy Dog Pals Pilot in a Propeller Plane
Coloring guide
A smiling puppy wearing aviator goggles and a flight cap sits in the open cockpit of a small propeller plane, a long scarf streaming out behind him. His floppy ears, big shiny eyes and open, happy mouth add fun detail. The plane has a round nose with rivets, a big spinning propeller, striped wings, a tail fin and two chunky wheels. Three little birds fly alongside, and fluffy clouds fill the edges of the sky. Large, clearly outlined shapes suit preschoolers and early elementary kids who are working on pencil control. A bright red plane body and a soft yellow scarf will help the puppy stand out against a pale blue sky. This free printable is a good fit for a quiet afternoon or a classroom activity. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the clouds and the two sky-hued areas: color the four clouds with pale blue, leaving the background white.
- 2Fill the airplane body, front cowling, tail fin, and landing struts with bright blue, then color the main wings and tail wing with fire red.
- 3Color the puppy's head and chest with warm tan, the ears and head fur with caramel brown, and the paws with light peach.
- 4Use fire red for the scarf and rose red for its tail ends, then add a coral pink tongue. Keep the small gap between the scarf and the neck white.
- 5Color the propeller blades and engine ring with bright yellow and the cockpit rim with golden yellow, then add the propeller hub in bright blue. Leave the tiny gap by the cockpit white.
- 6Finish with the goggles and birds in sky blue, the wheels in charcoal gray with light gray hubs, and leave small white shine spots on the goggles. Optional: add a little darker shading on the wings and ears for depth.
