Reptiles Page With a Gecko Resting on a Monstera Leaf
Coloring guide
A sweet little gecko stretches out across a big split-edged leaf, head tilted, looking right at you. It has big round eyes and a smile, toes spread wide with round pads, and a long tail that curls up into a spiral behind it. Oval spots dot the head, back, and tail, and they are large enough for small hands. The leaf has a center vein, a few bubble-like circles that might be water droplets, and a second leaf peeking out from behind. With bold outlines and roomy open spaces, it works well for preschoolers and early elementary kids using crayons or markers. Bright lime green with orange or yellow spots would look good on the gecko, against a deeper forest green leaf. Download the free PDF and print it at home to add to your growing pile. This fits right in with our Reptiles coloring pages — see also Snake and Birds.
A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- deep forest green
- lime green
- bright orange
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the whole monstera leaf, including its side lobes and bottom lobe, with deep forest green.
- 2Fill the gecko's head, body, arms, legs and curly tail with lime green, leaving the big eye whites and the shine spots in the eyes white.
- 3Color the round spots on the leaf and the small spots on the gecko's back and side with lime green so they stand out on the darker leaf.
- 4Add bright orange dots along the tail, across the top of the head and on the sides of the body.
- 5Optional: Add a little darker green shading under the gecko and along the edges of the leaf to make them look rounder.
