Rolling a Giant Snowball Through a Christmas Village
Coloring guide
A boy and a girl lean into a huge snowball, pressing their mittens against it to roll it across the snow. Both are smiling and bundled up in knit beanies with pom-poms, scarves, winter jackets, mittens and boots. Three little houses sit behind them, with snow-covered roofs, chimneys and paned windows. Snowy evergreens stand on either side, and soft drifts cover the ground. That big round snowball leaves lots of open space, so younger children can fill it with one steady color. Thick lines suit preschoolers and early elementary kids. Bright red and blue on the beanies, mittens and scarves will stand out against a pale blue snowball and cozy yellow windows. - 1Start with the houses and background: fill the left and back house walls in sky blue, the big right house in peach orange, and the small house in light yellow, leaving the snowy ground white.
- 2Color the pine trees in forest green and the round bushes in grass green, keeping the snowy tree tips and chimney tops white.
- 3Fill the boy's hat and jacket in bright blue and sky blue, his pants in navy blue and his boots in dark slate blue, then add his red scarf.
- 4Color the girl's hat, scarf and boots in hot pink, her coat in rose pink, and her mittens in raspberry pink, with her boots' cuffs in pale pink.
- 5Use royal blue for the mittens on the snowball and leave the giant snowball fully white for a bright, clean look.
- 6Optional: add skin peach to faces and hands, brown for the boy's hair, and keep the eye whites and mouth highlights white.
