Santa Claus on Skis Racing Down a Snowy Slope

A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.

• cherry red
• golden yellow
• chocolate brown
• bright green
• light peach
• charcoal black
• forest green
• ice blue
• salmon pink
• medium gray

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.

1. 1Start with the big red areas: color Santa's suit, hat tip, and both pant legs in cherry red, leaving the white fur trims and the beard white.
2. 2Fill the face, ears, and the skin of the hands in light peach, then add salmon pink on the cheeks.
3. 3Color both gloves bright green, and the boots chocolate brown, keeping the boot straps and buckles charcoal black.
4. 4Paint the belt charcoal black and the buckle medium gray, then color the skis golden yellow.
5. 5Use forest green for the trees and ice blue for the snowy hill edges, leaving the snow tops on the trees white.
6. 6Optional: Add a little darker red shading along the folds of the suit and under the belt to make Santa look more three-dimensional.
