A frightened child is tucked into the corner of a room with both hands pressed to their cheeks, peeking out with wide, worried eyes. Messy, tousled hair falls over the forehead and the eyebrows tilt up in a nervous look. The chunky sweater with ribbed cuffs, loose pants and rounded shoes are all drawn with thick, clear outlines that small hands can manage easily. In the background you can see two walls meeting, a baseboard along the floor, and part of an oval shape at the left edge. It's a gentle way to talk with kids about feeling scared or shy, and it's free to print. A soft blue or purple sweater fits the nervous mood, and warm brown or orange hair adds contrast. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the big sweater body and both puffy sleeves with bright blue, leaving the hands and face for later.
- 2Color the messy hair chestnut brown, including the tufts above the forehead.
- 3Color the hands, forehead and face peach, keeping the two eye whites bright white.
- 4Paint the pants and the ribbed sweater cuffs denim blue, following the cuff lines so they stand out.
- 5Color both sneakers brick red and leave the soles white. Fill the mirror glass pale sky blue and the mirror frame with golden yellow.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker blue along the bottom of the sweater and pants to make the shapes look rounder.
