A smiling baby seal plunges headfirst into the sea, its two back flippers still poking up in the air while water splashes around them. We see the seal from above, with big round eyes, a small dark nose, curved whiskers and one front flipper on each side of its smooth body. Thick foamy bubbles and swirling curved lines show ripples spreading out from the dive. Droplets fly up on both sides, and simple wavy lines run across the background. The wide open areas on the seal's body are easy for small hands to fill in. Silvery gray or warm brown works for the seal, with a mix of blues and teals for the water. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the seal's body, both flippers and the tail in slate gray, using light back-and-forth strokes so the fur looks smooth.
- 2Fill the water splashes and droplets around the seal, both at the top and in the lower corners, with pale blue.
- 3Color the waves at the top right and along the far right edge with bright blue, and add aqua to the outer edge of the far right wave.
- 4Fill the small patch of water visible behind the left flipper with teal blue to make the seal stand out.
- 5Leave the foam and open background white, and keep the seal's eyes and nose white or lightly outlined for shine.
- 6Optional: add a few darker gray strokes along one side of the seal's body to give it a little shadow.
