Shuttle Liftoff at the Launch Tower, Solar System & Space Page
Coloring guide
This detailed page shows a space shuttle lifting off from its launch pad, with a large external fuel tank and two tall solid rocket boosters strapped to its belly. Thick plumes of exhaust pour down from the engines and spill into big, puffy clouds at the bottom. On the left, a tall metal launch tower with crisscrossing beams, staircases and pipes rises beside the rocket. Look closer and you'll find birds flying through a sky of fluffy clouds, a flat horizon in the distance, a small building, light poles and a round dome on a water tower on the right. Bright orange boosters and a rusty tan fuel tank look right, and the smoke can stay soft gray. Print the free PDF for a screen-free activity at home. This fits right in with our Solar System & Space coloring pages — see also Butterfly and Beach.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the sky: fill the sky areas on the left and beside the launch tower with sky blue, and color the distant water band near the horizon in ocean blue.
- 2Color the big central fuel tank and the top of the shuttle's tank area in orange, leaving the shuttle nose, wings, and side boosters white.
- 3Fill the rocket flames with bright yellow in the center and right, butter yellow on the edges, and orange at the left and at the base of the center flame.
- 4Color the clouds at the bottom of the page in cream and pale yellow, and fill the green trees and bushes on the right with leaf green. Color the road and tower platforms light gray.
- 5Leave the puffy sky clouds, the cockpit window shine, and the shuttle body white. Optional: add a light touch of soft yellow along the cloud edges for a glowing look.
