Sleepy Sheep Curled Up on Hay in the Barn

This peaceful barn scene shows a fluffy little lamb fast asleep on a bed of hay, front hooves tucked under its chin. The eyes are closed with long lashes, and there's a tiny smile and a pair of floppy ears. Curly, cloud-like wool gives kids plenty of bumpy outlines to work through. Behind the lamb are wooden barn planks with knots in the wood, a round slatted bucket with a handle, and a pitchfork leaning on the wall. The hay is drawn with lots of short pointed strokes, handy for practicing small marks. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the big fluffy sheep body, head, and front leg with warm cream, leaving the eye lines and the mouth unfilled.
- 2Color the inside of the ear coral pink, and add the hooves in warm gray.
- 3Paint the metal bucket in light steel blue, keeping the bucket rim and the white handle loop clean.
- 4Color the bottom band and wooden posts in chocolate brown, and the fork handle in burnt orange.
- 5Fill the fork tines and collar in charcoal gray, then add golden yellow to the hay strands at the edges.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shade under the sheep and inside the bucket to make the shapes pop.
