Sleepy Mermaid Curled Up in a Seashell Bed
Coloring guide
Fast asleep inside a big open scallop shell, a little mermaid with long wavy hair rests her cheek on her folded arms, eyes closed in a peaceful smile. A tiny starfish clip with a smiling face sits in her hair. Her scaly tail wraps around the front of the shell and finishes in a large fan-shaped fin, and a round pearl rests on the soft cushion beside her. Bubbles of different sizes float above the shell, and a cheerful starfish waves from the top corner. The ribbed panels of the shell break the page into lots of sections to color. Soft lavender or sea-green would look lovely on the tail scales, pale pink on the shell, and shimmery white or light blue on the pearl. Print it at home for a calm, creative break. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big shell background: color the fan-shaped shell sections in lavender purple and pale lilac, alternating shades so each ridge stands out.
- 2Fill the mermaid's bed and the outer shell rim with cream beige, then color the bottom scallops of the shell in baby pink.
- 3Color the mermaid's long hair in coral red, including the strands by her ear and under the starfish clip.
- 4Add the mermaid's tail in teal green near the base, then mint green for the fins and scales.
- 5Color the smiling star and the little starfish clip in lemon yellow, and fill the bubbles with sky blue.
- 6Leave the pearl white for a shiny look, and keep the face, arm and hand in cream beige. Optional: add a few soft darker lines on the shell ridges for depth.
