Crawling Baby Reaching for a Beach Ball
Coloring guide
A happy baby with curly tufts of hair crawls over a puzzle-piece foam play mat, stretching one hand toward a big striped beach ball. The baby wears a long-sleeved top with a rounded collar, and has big sparkling eyes and a wide open-mouthed smile. Over near the edge of the mat, a teddy bear in a bow tie sits and watches. The interlocking mat tiles make easy shapes to fill in, and the large ball panels are simple for small hands. You could color each ball stripe a different bright shade, such as red, yellow and blue, and make the bear a soft golden brown. Toddlers and preschoolers who like playtime scenes will enjoy this free printable, at home or in the classroom. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the baby's skin in peach: the face, ears, hair, neck, and both hands and feet.
- 2Fill the baby's outfit, arms, and legs in bright blue, then add pale blue to the wrist cuffs and the collar band around the neck.
- 3Color the big play mat at the bottom in bright yellow, and the mat pieces at the top and behind the teddy bear in bright green. Finish the red mat corner on the right in coral red.
- 4Color the beach ball with a red panel on the left, a bright yellow stripe in the middle, a bright green panel on the right, a bright blue top, and an orange edge near the end cap. Leave the white highlight patch on the ball white.
- 5Fill the teddy bear's head, body, ears, and arms in warm brown, and color its feet, muzzle, and bow in cream. Give the baby's open mouth a pink tongue area.
- 6Optional: Add a little extra shading with a slightly darker shade of each color along one side of the shapes to make the drawing look more rounded.
