Peeking over the top of a big spiral-bound desk calendar, a cheerful baby dragon grips the rings with its clawed hands and wraps its curly tail around the front. The grid is left totally empty, so kids can write in the month, numbers and special dates themselves. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the sky: color the big clouds on the left and the sky around the castle and the mountain in sky blue, leaving the puffy cloud tops white.
- 2Color the dragon's body and paws in lime green, and the spiky head tuft and horns in medium green, leaving the eyes and their white shine highlights untouched.
- 3Fill the wings, belly and the little tuft at the top of the head with golden yellow, then add a coral red cover and edges to the calendar.
- 4Color the bushes, trees and grass in bright green, medium green and lime green, and add sage green to the rocks and bottom details.
- 5Leave the calendar grid cells white so they stay blank, and finish the castle roofs in coral red and the walls in tan.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker green along the tail and under the belly to give the dragon some shadow and depth.
