Rocket and Star Calendar in Outer Space

Across the page zooms a smiling rocket, with its face showing in a round porthole and a jagged flame trailing from the base. Two curved fins and a row of small rivets give little hands plenty to color. Floating next to it is a spiral-bound calendar with two rings on top and a grid where every square holds a small star. The space around them is filled with a ringed planet, a cratered moon, a striped planet, a smaller cratered planet and lots of scattered stars. Use it for counting days, chatting about weekly routines or simply a space adventure. A bright red rocket with a yellow and orange flame looks great, and your child can pick a different color for each calendar star. It's a free printable. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big red parts: color the nose cone top, both side fins and the planet rings' accents in red, leaving the rocket body white.
- 2Fill the rocket's stripe bands and the calendar top cover with royal blue, and color the porthole face with pale sky blue.
- 3Color the flames at the bottom with orange on the outside and lemon yellow in the middle, and fill the bottom and top planets with orange, bright blue and sky blue.
- 4Shade the calendar grid: color the cream cells, the light blue cells and the ice blue cells with star shapes, keeping the white cells white.
- 5Finish with details: color the stars lemon yellow, the moon craters slate gray, the purple moon orchid purple, and the porthole ring azure blue. Optional: add a little darker shade along one edge of each fin for depth.
