A Little Friendship Lift for a Mouse on an Elephant's Trunk
Coloring guide
A happy young elephant stands in a grassy field with its trunk curled high, and a tiny mouse is perched right on the tip. The elephant has big round eyes, a wide open smile, large floppy ears, and a small tuft of hair on its head. The mouse has round ears, a long curly tail, and a cheerful grin, and it glances back at its big friend. You'll spot tufts of grass up front and an acacia-style tree with a flat, spreading top on the right. Clean, bold outlines and large open areas keep it simple for younger kids, while the wrinkles on the legs and trunk give older children something to chew on. Soft blue-gray for the elephant and warm tan for the mouse will help them stand apart. This free printable is ready to use at home or in the classroom. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the elephant's big body and head with light gray, leaving the eye whites and the small shine spots white.
- 2Color the inside of the trunk, the far ear, and the inside of the mouth with soft pink, then add hot pink to the tongue.
- 3Paint the mouse warm brown and its inner ears soft pink, and color the elephant's tail tuft charcoal gray.
- 4Color the acacia tree canopy, the bushes, and the grass patches leafy green, using lime green for the grass by the legs and on the left, and keep the gaps in the branches white.
- 5Fill the elephant's toenails with cream so they stand out against the gray feet.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker gray along the elephant's belly and legs for a soft shadow.
