High above a row of three flowers, a happy bee with big sparkly eyes and a wide open smile hovers in the air. It has two large leaf-shaped wings with vein lines, curly antennae tipped with round balls, a striped body, a pointed stinger and small dangling legs. Down below you'll spot a five-petal flower, a tulip, and a round flower with a dotted center, all on slender stems with pointed leaves and tufts of grass at the bottom. Big shapes and clear outlines work well for preschoolers, and older kids can take their time with the stripes and petal details. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the big wings and the back wing with sky blue, leaving the thin vein lines uncolored.
- 2Fill the bee's head, the antenna balls, and the stripes on the body and tail with golden yellow, then color the brown stripes and stinger with dark brown.
- 3Use caramel brown for the bee's legs, and rose pink for the smiling mouth, leaving the teeth white.
- 4Paint the left flower petals rose pink and the right flower petals lavender purple, with golden yellow centers; color the tulip bloom tomato red.
- 5Color the leaves on the flowers and tulip in leaf green and bright green, and fill the grass patches with light lime and pale mint.
- 6Optional: Leave the eye whites and grass blades white for a crisp look, and add small black pupils to the eyes at the end.
