Smiling Boy Leaping for a Basketball Shot
Coloring guide
This boy has short tousled hair, a big smile, and both arms stretched high as he jumps off the ground right after letting go of a basketball. Small motion lines trail the ball above him, and the net, rim and backboard fill the upper right corner. He's dressed in a loose short-sleeved t-shirt, shorts with a stripe down the side, ankle socks and chunky sneakers. A simple floor line and a curved court marking run along the bottom, and the rest of the page is clean white space. Bold outlines and big open areas keep things easy for little kids, and the diamond pattern on the net gives older kids a bit of detail. An orange ball with black seams and a jersey in your child's favorite team color would be a good start. Print this free page when you need a screen-free activity at home. A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- peach
- sky blue
- chestnut brown
- light gray
- orange
- pale blue
- bright red
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by coloring the basketball orange, leaving the dark black lines untouched so the ball still looks like a ball.
- 2Fill the boy's face, both raised arms, hands, and legs with a soft peach shade, keeping the eyes and smile white.
- 3Color the boy's hair with chestnut brown, following the wavy strands.
- 4Use sky blue for the t-shirt and both sneakers, and bright red for the shorts and the red band around the hoop. Leave the socks white.
- 5Color the backboard frame pale blue and fill its inner panel and the hoop net light gray. Keep the inside of the hoop ring white.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shade of each color along one side of the shirt, shorts, and hair to make the picture look more rounded.
