Boy in Brimmed Hat Raking Leaves Beside a Bare Tree

A cheerful boy in a brimmed hat, neckerchief, buttoned jacket, rolled-up pants and lace-up boots leans forward as he rakes a pile of leaves. The rake has a banded handle and several curved tines, and a small group of leaves sits in front of it on the ground. Behind him stands a bare tree with twisting branches and just a few leaves still hanging on, while more leaves drift down through the air and rest near the trunk. Two low mounds of leaves sit at the base of the tree. Try warm oranges, reds, and yellows for the falling leaves, then pick a contrasting color for the jacket and neckerchief so the boy stands out. It is also a nice page for talking about why trees lose their leaves in autumn. Print it free and use it for a quiet afternoon activity at home or in class.
