Smiling Boy Waving Beside a Friendly Excavator and Cones
Coloring guide
One hand is on his hip and the other is up in a cheerful wave as a curly-haired boy stands beside a smiling mini excavator with big sparkly eyes. The digger has a happy face on its cab, a second grinning face on its bucket, rubber tracks and a long boom arm curving up behind them. The boy wears a striped vest over overalls, with sturdy lace-up boots. Up front on the ground are a small pile of dirt, a couple of loose rocks and two striped traffic cones. Big shapes and bold lines suit preschoolers and early grade-schoolers who are still working on pencil control. Bright yellow for the excavator and orange for the cones work well, and a contrasting color for the vest. The free PDF prints at home with no sign-up. This fits right in with our Blippi coloring pages — see also Pororo and Winnie the Pooh.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big yellow areas: color the excavator cab, boom arms, and bucket in golden yellow, leaving the background gap between the arms white.
- 2Fill the cab window and the boy's shirt, vest and boot details: color the windshield and side window sky blue, and the overalls and pant cuffs royal blue.
- 3Color the boy's face and hand warm tan, his curly hair dark brown, and the dirt pile and small rocks light brown.
- 4Add the orange parts: the shirt sleeves, cone stripes and cone bases in bright orange, and the wheel hubs in charcoal gray with the tracks and bucket teeth in charcoal gray.
- 5Finish the faces: leave the eye whites and cone white stripes white, and color the smiles and mouths coral pink and deep red.
- 6Optional: Add a little shading with a slightly darker shade on the tracks and cab edges to make the drawing pop.
