Happy Dragon in the Clouds for Chinese New Year

Coloring guide
Here's a cheerful, big-eyed dragon curling through the sky, its long scaly body twisting in loose loops and its tail ending in a fluffy tuft. It has an open smile, a wavy whisker trailing from the snout, a feathery mane and two branching horns, and one front claw is raised like a wave hello. Swirly clouds and little five-point stars are scattered around it, so there are lots of small spaces to fill. The rows of rounded scales are good practice for slow, careful coloring. Red and gold work well on the scales and mane for the holiday, and soft blue is nice for the clouds. Grab the free PDF and print it at home, whatever your age. This fits right in with our Chinese New Year coloring pages — see also Father's Day and Winter.

- 2Fill the dragon's head, body and scales with coral red, working from the head down the body.
- 3Color the horns light brown and the mane, side fins and tail fins golden yellow.
- 4Add the cream belly stripes and the pale yellow tail and body bands, keeping the eye highlights white.
- 5Use soft pink for the open mouth and tongue, and color the top star golden yellow.
- 6Optional: add a few darker red lines on the scales to give the dragon a little depth.
