This happy crab is standing on a strip of sand with both big claws up in the air. Each claw has a little zigzag crack line across it. The oval body has a curved smile, and two round eyes with shiny highlights sit on tall stalks. Segmented legs stretch out on both sides, so there are lots of small sections for little hands to fill in. A few smooth pebbles and tiny sand dots are at the bottom of the page. Outlines are thick and clean, which makes this free printable a good match for preschoolers and early elementary kids working on pencil control. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the big round body, both claws and the two eye stalks with coral red, pressing a little harder on the shell for a bold look.
- 2Fill the arm segments and the lower leg parts with bright orange, so the crab's arms and legs pop against the red body.
- 3Color the rest of the legs and the leg joints with light orange to give the crab a softer, two-tone look.
- 4Color the two large rocks and the two small stones on the sand with light gray, leaving the sand and background white.
- 5Keep both eye whites, the sand and the background empty so the crab stands out clearly.
- 6Optional: add a few light diagonal strokes in a slightly darker shade of coral red across the body and claws for a textured, hand-drawn feel.
