Rainy Day Dragonfly Under a Leaf Umbrella

Coloring guide
When the rain comes down, this little dragonfly keeps dry by holding a big veined leaf over its head. It has big round eyes and curled antennae, and one tiny arm grips the long leaf stem while the striped tail hangs behind. Raindrops fall everywhere, and at the bottom a puddle sits between two clumps of grass. The four wings are full of delicate vein lines, so this free printable is a nice pick for kids who like detail work. Soft greens work for the leaf and grass, pale blue and lilac for shimmery wings, and bright blue for the raindrops and puddle. Younger children can fill the wide open leaf and puddle, while older kids can practice staying inside the lines on the wings. - 3Color the wings with pale blue, and fill the abdomen stripes with golden yellow alternating with leaf green.
- 4Paint the raindrops, the pond, and the two pebbles with sky blue, and add a touch of pale lime to the tail tip.
- 5Leave the eye whites white, and keep the grass and background white.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker blue along the wing edges and a light shadow under the leaf for depth.
