Daisy-Hugging Fairy with a Smiling Butterfly

This little fairy has a hair bun, a flower tucked above her ear, and both arms wrapped around the stem of a big daisy. She's smiling right at you. Her skirt looks like petals, her tiny shoes are ballet-style, and one large veined wing sits behind her back, with a pointed ear peeking out of her hair. In the upper right corner a cheerful butterfly with a smiling face flutters by, and tufts of grass and a pair of leaves frame the bottom. Bold lines and roomy shapes make it a good pick for preschoolers and early elementary kids with crayons or chunky markers. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the fairy's skin in peach skin: face, ears, arms, legs and feet, leaving the small highlight near the shoulder white.
- 2Fill the hair, including the big bun on top, the side strands and the bun at the back, with golden yellow.
- 3Color the dress petals in hot pink and the dress top in rose pink, then add the flower in her hair in rose pink with a golden yellow center.
- 4Paint the wings in sky blue on the lower part and pale blue on the upper part, then color the big leaf and the lower leaf in leaf green, including the stem.
- 5Color the butterfly with lavender purple on its upper wings, blush pink on its lower wings, rose pink on the right wing and orange on its body. Keep the daisy petals white and fill the daisy center in golden yellow.
- 6Optional: add light strokes of a darker shade of each color to the wings and dress to give them a little depth.
