Farmer Boy in Wide Hat Carrying a Basket of Harvest Vegetables

A cheerful boy in a wide-brimmed hat stands holding a big woven basket filled with the harvest. Inside the basket you can see a large pumpkin in the middle, round apples with little leaves on top, carrots with feathery tops, leafy greens, and a few root vegetables. He wears overalls, a loose short-sleeved shirt, rolled-up pants, and tall rubber boots. A few small tufts of grass are scattered around his feet. The lines are clean and the shapes are fairly large, so it works well for kids who like to take their time. Try coloring each vegetable a different true-to-life shade, then talk about which ones grow underground and which grow above the ground. The checkered weave of the basket is also fun to alternate in two shades of brown. This printable page suits a fall classroom unit or a quiet afternoon at the kitchen table.
