Standing upright with its huge, ruffled frill spread wide, this frilled lizard looks ready to put on a show. The fan-like lines inside the frill are waiting for color. It has big round eyes, an open smiling mouth, and a textured body with little scales and spots along the side. The tail curls out to the left and the clawed feet are planted on the ground. Tall grass rises on both sides, with small tufts and a few little mounds in front. Long leaves hang from the top corners, carrying clusters of small gumnut-like buds. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the big neck frill with orange, leaving the lower middle stripes and some ridges in sunny yellow, and add red orange along the tops of the frill.
- 2Color the lizard's head, neck, body, legs and tail with tan brown, keeping the belly highlights and little spots white.
- 3Color the open mouth with coral pink, leaving the teeth and the bright eye whites white.
- 4Fill the grass blades and eucalyptus leaves with grass green, using forest green for the darker leaves and lime green for some lighter blades.
- 5Color the gum nuts and stems with chestnut brown and amber, and fill the small pebbles with light gray. Optional: Add a few darker lines in the grass and frill for extra depth.
