Grinning Frog With a Dragonfly on His Head

Sitting upright on a round lily pad, a cheerful frog grins with its mouth wide open and big round eyes looking up. A small striped dragonfly with four wings is perched right on top of the frog's head, which makes the whole scene extra sweet. The frog has spots on its legs, a large oval belly and long toes spread out on the pad. On the right, a closed water lily bud rises from the pond, and curved ripple lines around the pad show the water. Clean, bold outlines and roomy spaces keep it easy for little hands. Bright green with yellow spots suits the frog, and shimmery blue or purple wings will make the dragonfly stand out. Print it for a classroom project or a weekend craft. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the lily pad leaf green, leaving the thin vein lines and the edge highlights uncolored.
- 2Fill the frog's head, arms, and legs with lime green, keeping the eye whites white.
- 3Color the frog's belly pale lime so it stands out from the green body.
- 4Add lemon yellow dots to the frog's sides and legs, leaving a small white shine on each dot if you like.
- 5Color the lotus flower rose pink, and fill the dragonfly's wings pale blue and its head and body sky blue, keeping its legs white.
- 6Fill the open mouth light pink, add a tan brown patch at the top of the mouth, and leave the background white. Optional: add a slightly darker green along the edges of the frog for a little depth.
