A big-eyed jellyfish is the star here, and three small round fish circle its head. They have striped bodies, tails and cheerful faces, and sit at the upper left, upper right and middle left. The jellyfish has a scalloped bell with two curved stripes on top, and its long wavy tentacles trail down toward the sea floor. Little bubbles float up on both sides, and tall wavy seaweed and rounded rocks frame the bottom of the scene. Shapes are large and lines are bold, which helps preschoolers and early elementary kids still working on pencil control. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the big jellyfish bell with light lavender, leaving the two eye whites white.
- 2Color the long wavy tentacles: make the middle ones baby pink and the outer ones orchid purple and deep purple.
- 3Paint the seaweed in forest green and leaf green, alternating shades so the plants look layered.
- 4Color the top left and top right fish in orange fins and lemon yellow bodies, then give the blue fish body sky blue with a lemon yellow tail.
- 5Add the small middle fish in golden yellow with a bright red stripe and orange tail, and color the bubbles pale blue and sky blue.
- 6Optional: Add darker stripes on the bell and tentacles in deep purple to make the jellyfish look more rounded.
